The University of Western Kentucky Help Build ItSeven Western Kentucky University students gave up their spring break to travel eleven hours to Alexandria to help build a house with Rapides Habitat for Humanity. The students are members of their university’s Habitat for Humanity College Chapter. The week of January 17-23 was Collegiate Challenge week whereby students nation wide took to America’s highways and traveled to various destinations to help construct houses. Many of the college students had worked on Habitat build projects previously and brought an advanced level of experience with them. During Collegiate Challenge week the group performed significant roof work and installed windows and walls. St. James Episcopal Church provided lodging and dinner for the group and Emmanuel Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, and Park View Baptist Church each provided lunch meals for the group during their stay. |
